Desert Wander Two was a two day trip to Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, September, 2016. I was curious as to how a two-week wander vs. a two-day wander would compare. While both have their merits, it was harder to disconnect from everyday life as much as I did when I had more time. But as I hiked among the hoodoos for several hours I found a few moments to weave myself into the surrounding landscape and be present with the wonder around me.

It is a challenge to make minimal marks when capturing such an overwhelming natural setting, and have them mean something. A lady from southeast Asia asked to see my sketches and she was not wholly impressed. Bless her, she was still very polite and engaged in friendly conversation.

All drawings are colored pencil on paper, 8.5 x 5.5 inches.
